With a smooth sultry voice and youth and exuberance, Esperanza Spalding is headed full steam to the future all the way from Oregon. She is intelligent to say the least as she plays multiple instruments before she picked the bass as her weapon of choice. After only a year of high school she enrolled at Portland State University where she graduated in three years, and then became of the youngest professors to teach at Berklee College of Music. She is more than proficient on the double bass and her jazz is something with a very modern feel yet very relaxing, I find Ms. Spalding herslef doesnt exactly fit in to the streotyped image of a jazz musician. To hear her sound and style you should look up her tow relesed studio albums to date, Junjo*2006* and Esperanze*2008* and enjoy. ~R. Esquire
